The D80 [was] in the middle tier of Nikon's lineup untill it was discontinued, the D-3000 is on the lower tier of the Nikon lineup. What I usually do when asked that in the store is start with what your interests are and how you are going to be using the camera.. The D-80 (Now the D-90) is going to be faster and give you more functionallity with lens and accessory selection later.... Give me more information and I will try to walk you through...
